MULTIFAMILY CONSTRUCTION In 1990, Chicago’s real estate market began experiencing a wave of condo conversions, which proved very profitable to investors. When apartment buildings used for conversions were exhausted, investors turned to single family homes and abandoned commercial buildings, tearing those down and constructing new condos and townhouses in their place. I participated in this trend, managing many projects in the upscale Chicago neighborhoods of Lakeview and Wrigleyville. The most prominent of those were a 12 condominium building with underground parking and a 14 unit townhouse complex, totaling over 70,000 Sq. Ft. |
